Mavar’s central mission is to empower individuals who choose to explore opportunities beyond the strictly orthodox (Charedi) Jewish community to develop and fulfil their personal goals. Mavar supports its service users’ efforts to achieve independence, live authentically and cope with the obstacles they may encounter as they explore options to live, work or study in the wider world – whether or not they choose to leave the Charedi community. Since 2012, we have supported over 150 individuals across the UK.
Our work is sensitive and depends on trust. As demand grows, Mavar is moving beyond a primarily volunteer-based delivery model and is seeking a part-time Chief Executive to lead the organisation into its next stage. Reporting to the Chair and working with the Board, the Chief Executive will be responsible for strategy, delivery and day-to-day operations. You will lead a small team of part-time staff and volunteers, ensuring the consistent delivery to our service users of mentoring, counselling, education and, where appropriate, financial support.
Key priorities include managing sustainable growth, balancing demand with capacity, strengthening fundraising to create a diversified income base, and ensuring that the organisation is well run with appropriate systems and governance. This is a part-time role and may suit a first-time Chief Executive or someone experienced in leading a small charity through change. What matters most is judgement, credibility and the ability to lead a small organisation with clarity and care.
