We wish to appoint a HLTA Teaching Assistant, who is able to bring enthusiasm and dedication to their work as part of our experienced and highly effective team and who may be able to work, as required, in other year groups or with children who have special needs. This is a Grade 5 post working 35 hours a week, term time only plus 5 inset days.
Qualifications and Experience
- The ability to provide support to pupils, attending to the child’s personal needs, including social, pastoral, health, medical and physical hygiene (toileting and changing).
- Excellent levels of literacy and numeracy at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2 qualification, ideally with SEND specific certificated training.
- NQV Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Experience of working with children who exhibit challenging and complex behaviours, and an understanding of child development and learning.
- Experience of working with children with communication, severe, profound or complex learning difficulties is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills; the ability to provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.
- Commitment to building positive relationships with parents, pupils and staff.
- Ability to keep detailed written notes on progress and attainment and experience of keeping detailed Learning Journeys/Assessments for individual children.
- Experience of delivering high quality teaching and learning.
- Experience and understanding of how to deliver specific support to raise the attainment of under‑performing children and groups.
- Understanding of how to enthuse, motivate and engage children in all areas of learning.
- Experience of effective team work.
- Experience that could contribute to the broader life of the school community.
