We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Superintendent Radiographer to lead our busy and evolving Neuroradiology service. This is an excellent opportunity to shape service delivery, drive innovation, and support the development of a skilled and committed team within a highly specialised imaging environment.
Main duties of the job
- Provide strong clinical and managerial leadership, ensuring the delivery of a safe, high-quality, and efficient Neuroimaging service.
- Act as a visible role model and mentor, supporting radiographers and support staff while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, professionalism, and patient-centred care.
- Implement departmental policies, embedding clinical governance, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with Trust and national guidelines.
- Oversee operational performance, including workforce management, staff rostering, recruitment and retention, and managing sickness and competency processes.
- Lead on achieving key performance indicators, budgetary targets, and waiting list management, while ensuring optimal utilisation of imaging capacity across booked sessions.
- Monitor equipment performance, escalate faults appropriately, and produce accurate activity, capacity, demand, and waiting list data for divisional reporting.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Provide appropriate clinical and managerial leadership throughout the department.
- Ensure that Clinical Governance and Risk management are embedded within daily practice.
- Be responsible for the interpretation and implementation of Trust and NHS policies and clinical guidelines within Neuroradiology.
- Achievement of the Neuroradiology budget and specific Key Performance Indicators including monitoring of waiting list targets.
- Work with others to optimise Neuroimaging utilisation in relation to booked sessions and availability.
- Oversight of the management of staff rosters in the most efficient way to meet demand.
- Investigate complaints relating to Neuroradiology and implement remedial action as required.
- Be responsible for the delivery of optimal service within budgetary restraints.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Be the Operational lead for Neuroradiology services.
- Ensure the service provides a responsive and flexible service to the Trust and its patients.
- Interpret complex medical conditions and facilitate relevant diagnostic procedures.
- Demonstrate a highly specialist knowledge of Neuroradiology techniques.
Training
- Ensure that all relevant staff are trained to use all equipment in Neuroradiology.
- Produce and implement an induction programme for senior radiographers, radiographers and assistant staff.
Qualifications
- BSc Radiography (or equivalent).
- Health Professions Council (HCPC) Registration.
Experience
- Extensive experience in Radiology across modalities.
- Extensive experience in supervision and training of less experienced radiographers, students and departmental staff.
- Proven leadership role within Radiology.
Knowledge / Skills
- Good oral and written communication.
- Able to present information effectively.
- Compilation and analysis of statistics for aid in practice and service development.
- Knowledge of current policies, legislation affecting service delivery.
- Able to produce effective written reports.
