Maucher Jenkins is a leading firm of Patent and Trade Mark attorneys, with main offices in the UK (London), Germany (Freiburg, Munich), and China. We are seeking a Head of Business Development to support and work alongside the partners and other fee earners, as part of our BD team.
The main objectives will include planning and executing high-level strategic initiatives, leading the business development team, and growing the client base and our profile. A willingness to engage with all European offices, including travel, is highly desirable. Experience in professional/legal services is preferred.
Key responsibilities:- Planning BD strategies and advising partners
- New business generation – identifying prospects and exploiting opportunities to convert prospects to clients
- Play an active role in delivering the business development strategy such as chairing discussions and setting up interest groups
- Network and build relationships with prospects and stakeholders
- Raising awareness of BD within the firm, e.g., generating a buzz around BD successes
- Enhancing marketing skills of fee earners, including implementing BD training schemes to nurture and grow fee earners’ BD skills
- Planning and participating in BD meetings
- Seeking out and leading the response to tenders
- Managing the BD budget and monitoring ROI
- Managing the other members of the BD and marketing team in the UK and Germany
In addition, participation in and/or supervision of marketing activities (with other team members): Corporate communications & branding, including the firm’s website and social media channels, CRM, direct mail & electronic mailshots, Events.
Experience Candidates should have:- Proven track record in Business Development Management
- Experience with client development and preparing pitches and proposals.
- Experience in managing budgets and multiple projects simultaneously, with enthusiasm and energy in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in managing a small team
- Strong strategic, creative, and commercial acumen.
- A collaborative and client-focused approach to work.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive, flexible attitude.
