We are working with a long-established, privately owned international FMCG business with a strong heritage and growing global presence. They are looking to recruit a new Head of Finance. Over the past 12 months, the business has continued to expand its international footprint, with further developments across Asia alongside its UK operations. Despite wider market challenges, it remains in a strong financial position with low staff turnover and a clear long-term growth strategy.
This is a key hire for the business, working closely with the owners and taking ownership of the finance function during an exciting phase of international growth.
Assignment DetailsThis is a broad and hands-on Head of Finance position with responsibility for both UK operations and oversight of international reporting. You will play a key role in supporting decision-making, improving reporting, and helping to build out finance capabilities across the group.
Key responsibilities include:- Leading the day-to-day finance function from the London office
- Managing and developing a UK-based finance team (4 finance staff)
- Overseeing and consolidating financial reporting across UK and international operations
- Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts and liaising with auditors
- Ownership of budgeting and forecasting across multiple sites
- Cash flow management and reporting
- Providing commercial analysis on sales, margins, and performance
- Oversight of stock and inventory
- Managing banking relationships, FX exposure (USD / EUR), and treasury activity
- Supporting international teams and building stronger financial processes globally
A key aspect of the role will be working closely with overseas operations. This will include:
- Regular interaction with teams in India and China
- International travel to support local finance teams and help build out processes
- Ensuring consistency and quality of financial reporting across regions
We are looking for a commercially minded, hands-on finance professional who is comfortable operating in an owner-managed environment.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Experience in a broad finance role, ideally within an SME or owner-managed business
- Comfortable managing both detail and big-picture financial oversight
- Experience of multi-entity or international reporting would be highly advantageous
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with non-finance stakeholders
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to drive improvements across processes and reporting
