A well-established wealth management firm is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of finance, HR administration, and compliance support for the business. This role has grown from a pure finance function into a broader operational position, and would suit someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable being the go-to person across these three areas.

Sector experience is essential. Candidates must have prior experience working within a wealth management, financial planning, or IFA business. Familiarity with the regulatory and operational environment of a financial services firm is not optional for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Finance
    • Purchase ledger and sales ledger
    • Balance sheet reconciliations
    • VAT returns
    • Month end reporting
    • Quarterly compliance returns
    • Liaising with external accountants at year end
  • HR Administration
    • Onboarding and offboarding
    • Employment contracts and documentation
    • General HR administration and record-keeping
  • Compliance
    • Supporting the firm's regulatory compliance requirements
    • Assisting with compliance monitoring and reporting as required

Skills Required

  • Essential: experience within a wealth management, financial planning, or IFA business
  • Accounting qualification advantageous, but QBE will be considered
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a similar combined finance/office role
  • Comfortable working across finance, HR, and compliance without a large support team
  • Self-starter with a 'can-do' attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicator at all levels, written and verbal
  • Good IT skills (MS Excel, finance systems including Xero)
