Our client is a well-established, privately owned SME with a turnover of approximately £12m, seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support the CFO and take ownership of the day-to-day finance function.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys operating within a growing business where they can take ownership, improve processes and play a key role in supporting commercial decision making.
The successful candidate will oversee one junior finance team member while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day finance function.
The Role
• Reporting directly to the CFO, responsibilities will include
- Supporting the CFO across all aspects of the finance function.
- Owning the month-end close process through to the production of draft management accounts.
- Managing cash flow forecasting and reporting.
- Overseeing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Maintaining strong financial controls and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Managing VAT, payroll and statutory compliance.
- Leading the year-end audit process and coordinating with external auditors.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to financial processes and reporting.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc commercial analysis.
- Providing day-to-day oversight and support to a junior member of the finance team
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller who is comfortable taking ownership of the finance function while working closely with the CFO.
Key requirements
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller within an SME environment.
- Strong Net Suite experience is essential, ideally with exposure to workflows and stock management.
- Experience managing the month-end process and producing management accounts.
- Strong understanding of cash flow management, VAT, payroll and statutory reporting.
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
