Finance Controller - Banking in Chessington, Surrey

Job Description Our client is a well-established, privately owned SME with a turnover of approximately £12m, seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support the CFO and take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys operating within a growing business where they can take ownership, improve processes and play a key role in supporting commercial decision making. The successful candidate will oversee one junior finance team member while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day finance function. Supporting the CFO across all aspects of the finance function. Owning the month-end close process through to the production of draft management accounts. Overseeing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Maintaining strong financial controls and balance sheet reconciliations. Managing VAT, payroll and statutory compliance. Leading the year-end audit process and coordinating with external auditors. Identifying and implementing improvements to financial processes and reporting. Supporting budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc commercial analysis. Providing day-to-day oversight and support to a junior member of the finance team We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller who is comfortable taking ownership of the finance function while working closely with the CFO. Previous experience as a Financial Controller within an SME environment. Experience managing the month-end process and producing management accounts. Strong understanding of cash flow management, VAT, payroll and statutory reporting. Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
