What is an R01? R01 is the first of six modules towards the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning, awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). It covers the financial services industry, regulation, and ethics - giving you the foundational knowledge needed to begin your journey as an adviser. All offers are conditional on successfully completing the R01 exam before your start date in January 2027. We will reimburse the cost upon successful completion.

Your Academy journey:

  • Term 1 - Professional foundations (3.5 months): Complete R02 through R05, building technical knowledge, regulatory confidence, and professional credibility.
  • Term 2 - Training to advise (2.5 months): Complete R06 and learn the Mattioli Woods way through expert-led sessions covering our proposition, processes, and people. Shadow a senior adviser, developing practical skills and understanding what excellent advice looks like in practice, while gradually taking on more responsibility. Successful completion of Term 3 marks your graduation from the Academy and your official start as a Mattioli Woods adviser.
  • Term 4 - Early career support (9 months): Your journey doesn't stop at graduation. For your first nine months as a qualified adviser, you'll receive ongoing coaching, structured performance reflection, and dedicated support - giving you the confidence and commerciality to build a long-term career.
