Build a career in financial advice through the Mattioli Woods Adviser Academy. We are reopening applications for our Adviser Academy - a multi-term programme over 12 months, designed to take you from trainee to expert financial planner. The Mattioli Woods Adviser Academy delivers one of the most credible adviser development programmes in the profession.

Please note: over the 12-month programme, successful applicants for Belfast will be expected to travel to Leicester and stay for 2 days every fortnight, with all travel expenses fully reimbursed.

Requirements:

  • 2–3 years in customer-facing roles (banking, sales, mortgages, or service)
  • Clear, confident communicator with a genuine interest in helping people
  • Detail-oriented, professional, and able to study independently
  • Strong literacy and numeracy; comfortable with technical information
  • Resilient, curious, and motivated for a long-term financial planning career
  • Eligible for full pre-employment checks, including DBS
  • RO1 exam completed before start*

*If you don’t yet have RO1, we’ll support you to complete it before your start date. Mattioli Woods will reimburse the cost upon successful completion and your start in the Academy.

Term 1 (3.5 months) – Professional foundations: Complete RO2–RO5, building technical knowledge, regulatory confidence, and professional credibility.

Term 2 (2.5 months) – Training to advise: Complete RO6 and learn the Mattioli Woods way, gaining insight into our proposition, processes, and people through expert-led sessions. Shadow a senior adviser, developing practical skills and understanding what excellent advice looks like, while gradually taking on more responsibility. Successful completion leads to your official start as a Mattioli Woods adviser.

Term 4 (9 months) – Early career support: Refine your skills with a focus on craft and commerciality, supported by ongoing coaching and structured performance reflection.

Application timeline:

  • Stage 1: Submit your CV and expression of interest
  • Stage 3: 20–30-minute HR phone interview (if shortlisted)
  • Stage 5: Final interviews – 11 and 12 May
