Our client is a well-established and growing transport planning consultancy delivering high-quality advice to private and public sector clients across the UK. They work on a broad range of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, providing pragmatic, development-led transport solutions.
The Role
Our client is seeking a Transport Planner at Consultant or Senior Consultant level to join their Surrey-based team. The role will involve leading and contributing to a wide range of development-focused transport planning projects, supporting planning applications and providing technical input from feasibility through to delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a transport planner looking to take on greater responsibility, develop client-facing skills and progress within a supportive consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
- Undertake and review junction modelling and analysis (e.g. Junctions 9/10, LinSig, PICADY/ARCADY)
- Analyse traffic, pedestrian and cycle survey data and present findings clearly
- Provide transport input to planning applications and appeal work
- Liaise directly with clients, local highway authorities, architects and project teams
- Support and lead site feasibility studies and access strategy development
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members (Senior level)
- Contribute to project management, programme delivery and fee proposals
- Attend and represent the company at client and design team meetings
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
- Proven experience within a transport planning consultancy or similar environment
- Good understanding of the UK planning system and development control process
- Experience preparing technical transport reports for planning applications
- Strong written, analytical and verbal communication skills
- Experience with industry-standard modelling software (e.g. LinSig, AutoCAD)
- Experience managing smaller projects or workstreams independently
- Experience across residential and mixed-use development projects
