Due to a large portfolio of projects and exciting growth plans, our client is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Associate Transport Planner to join the growing Development Planning team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planning professional looking to take the next step in their career, combining technical excellence with client relationship management, business development and team leadership.

Based in Bristol, you will have experience in UK development planning and demonstrate a strong understanding of the planning system, transport policy and highway design principles. The role requires an individual capable of leading the preparation and delivery of a broad range of transport planning commissions, supporting the continued growth of the business in the South West and mentoring junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Associate Transport Planner shall lead and manage transport planning commissions from inception through to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical advice and commercially successful outcomes.
  • The role includes the preparation and review of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes, Construction Logistics Plans, Delivery and Servicing Plans and other supporting transport documentation for planning applications across a wide range of development sectors.
  • Working closely with architects, planning consultants and highway engineers, the Associate Transport Planner shall contribute to the development of access strategies, site masterplans and highway mitigation proposals, whilst representing clients during discussions and negotiations with Local Highway Authorities, National Highways and Local Planning Authorities.
  • An important aspect of the role involves mentoring and supporting graduate and junior transport planners, providing technical guidance, reviewing work and assisting with their professional development.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline is essential.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution, such as the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT), Transport Planning Society (TPS) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), would be advantageous.
