We are working with a leading, independent environmental consultancy to recruit a Senior Consultant specialising in Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced flood risk professional to join a growing, forward-thinking team delivering technically challenging and commercially significant projects across the property, renewable energy and aviation sectors.
The Role
You will have 4+ years' experience in hydraulic modelling and Flood Risk Assessments (FRA), with the opportunity to work across projects from early strategy and feasibility through to outline design, planning submission and discharge of conditions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and reviewing fluvial and pluvial hydraulic models.
- Preparing and contributing to Flood Risk Assessments.
- Assessing flood risk constraints and opportunities within development sites.
- Evaluating flood mitigation options and supporting masterplanning.
- Interpreting modelling outputs and clearly communicating findings to clients.
- Liaising with the Environment Agency and other stakeholders.
- Preparing clear, concise technical reports.
- Working across a range of consenting regimes, including Development Consent Orders and Town and Country Planning.
Key Skills & Experience
We are looking for candidates with:
- Strong knowledge of UK planning policy and flood risk guidance, including the NPPF.
- Experience using Flood Modeller Pro and TUFLOW.
- Good knowledge of hydrology and hydrological assessments.
- Experience developing, troubleshooting and interpreting hydraulic models.
- GIS and AutoCAD experience.
- Understanding of Environment Agency modelling requirements and review processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience preparing FRAs, or a strong desire to develop further expertise in this area.
- An understanding of drainage and SuDS would be advantageous.
