Our client is a well-established independent consultancy providing transport planning, highway design, flood risk and drainage services across the UK. They work on a diverse range of projects including residential, retail, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and mixed-use developments, supporting schemes from initial feasibility through to planning and detailed design.
They are now looking to recruit a Graduate Transport Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to begin their career within a supportive and collaborative consultancy environment, working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of high-profile and technically interesting projects. The post is located in Surrey and offered with hybrid / flexible working arrangements.
The successful candidate will assist with the preparation of transport planning reports, technical assessments and supporting documentation, while also gaining exposure to areas such as traffic data analysis, junction modelling, development planning and transport strategy work. The role will involve coordinating traffic surveys, undertaking research into planning policy and design standards, preparing technical drawings and presentation material, and attending site visits, client meetings and consultation events.
You will receive ongoing mentoring, training and professional development support, with clear progression opportunities as you work towards becoming a Consultant.
About You:
- Candidates should hold a degree in a relevant subject such as Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering, Mathematics or a related analytical discipline.
- An understanding of the UK planning process would be beneficial, although this is not essential.
- Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills are important, along with a proactive attitude and keen attention to detail.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is expected, while any exposure to AutoCAD, GIS software or transport modelling tools would be advantageous.
- A postgraduate qualification in a related field would also be viewed positively.
- You must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and able to work in Surrey.
