A leading groundwork and civil engineering contractor in Bedfordshire is seeking a Freelance Estimator. The company specialises in large commercial and residential projects, supported by a modern plant fleet and experienced in-house teams. Known for quality and reliability, they offer a dynamic environment with strong growth, community focus, and long-term career opportunities.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years' experience as an estimator
  • Bedfordshire based
  • Must have own Ltd Company set up in the UK with insurances
  • Background in Groundworks/Infrastructure/Civil Engineering
  • Working towards Chartered status or other recognised bodies

Duties:

  • Review tender documentation and quantify scope of works for accurate costing
  • Prepare competitive cost estimates, including preliminaries and bills of quantities
  • Identify and manage commercial and technical risks, proposing best-value solutions
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
  • Present tender submissions and lead commercial handover to the delivery team

This role is a freelance position; however, it will be open to extension at the end of the contract for the right person.
