Mattinex is building software that improves coordination and communication between organisations and their suppliers in the facilities management space. We're solving a real operational problem with automation and AI agents, and we're already talking to customers about piloting the system.

The role involves joining as a technical co-founder, starting with a short working period together to ensure synergy and belief in the project. Once confirmed, the partnership will be formalised with equity.

You won't be the only developer; I will be coding alongside you, focusing on sales, marketing, customer research, competitive analysis, and helping customers implement the product. You would be leading the technical stack.

  • ML / Data Science experience: We have an AI agent as a core part of the product, and improving its accuracy and training will be a significant part of your work.
  • Experience building with LLM APIs: Function calling, tool use, multi-step agents. Practical LLM/agent experience is more directly useful than a pure data science background.
  • Cloud deployment experience: Ideally AWS (EC2, RDS, S3), or something like Railway.
  • Backend and database fundamentals: PostgreSQL or similar, able to design a schema properly.
  • API integration experience: Third-party APIs, auth flows, rate limits, unreliable external services.
  • Solid software engineering habits: Git is essential, Docker is a bonus.
  • Basic security awareness: Secrets management, environment variables, not shipping obvious vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with AI coding tools: Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
  • Some projects to show: Nothing extensive, just evidence that you genuinely enjoy building.

You must be based in London, as we expect to meet regularly.

We're looking for someone with a fire in them, who stays up thinking about what they're building, takes initiative, and figures out what needs to be done without being directed at every step. If you need a perfect spec before writing code, this probably isn't the right fit. If you can build something independently and iterate based on customer feedback, let's talk.
