At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. As a Senior Chemist, you’ll join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history and innovation. You’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern society and enhancing lives - as we continue to apply, refine and recycle metals that matter, for a healthier and more resilient future.
The role:
- Promotes high environmental, health and safety standards and behaviours for self and co-workers.
- Ensures work is carried out in line with appropriate risk assessments (task-based risk, COSHH, manual handling, etc) for development work.
- Demonstrates initiative, innovation and creativity to deliver business objectives.
- Responsible for key technical work required for business development and improvement.
- Undertakes Project Manager role for NPI Refining projects.
- Formulates Project Charters to efficiently address business needs ensuring that inputs are included from key stakeholders (Operations, Commercial and Supply Chain).
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
- MSc / BSc (or equivalent) in Chemistry or related discipline.
- Experience within a laboratory environment.
- Experience of EHS documents such as COSHH, manual handling, task-based risk assessments.
- Ability to learn quickly and apply new skills to the needs of the business.
- An ability to provide innovative solutions to problems.
