At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. As a Process Chemist, you’ll join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history. Using advanced metals chemistry, you’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges - cutting emissions, powering modern life and supporting life‐saving technologies - by applying, refining and recycling metals that matter for a healthier, more sustainable, circular future.
The role:
- Supporting hydrometallurgical refinery processes to improve performance and plant output
- Analysing process data to identify losses, diagnose issues and prioritise improvement actions
- Contributing to Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) initiatives to reduce downtime and improve yields
- Leading or supporting root cause analysis of incidents and implementing corrective actions
- Providing technical input into process safety, risk assessments and management of change activities
- Collaborating with operations, engineering and wider stakeholders to deliver practical process improvements
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
- Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline
- Experience in chemical processing, plant operations or process development
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data clearly
- Commitment to environmental, health and safety standards
- Ability to apply structured problem-solving methods and deliver practical solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
