Are you an experienced Fire & Security Engineer who enjoys running your own jobs, solving technical challenges, and delivering quality installations without being micromanaged? Our client doesn’t just install systems, they design, deliver and maintain complete life safety solutions nationwide. Established in 1999 and headquartered in Nottingham, they are an independent, market-leading specialist in fire safety, fire suppression and integrated security systems. Their growth is built on technical excellence, long-term client relationships, and engineers who take pride in their work. Due to continued expansion, we are now recruiting Small Works Project Engineers (Installations) across the Midlands, South and East London.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for an engineer who:

  • Enjoys working independently
  • Takes ownership of projects from install through to commissioning
  • Wants exposure to high-quality systems and varied sites
  • Is confident communicating directly with clients

You’ll be trusted to deliver professional, compliant installations while representing the company on site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Installing, configuring and commissioning Fire, Life Safety and Security systems
  • Working with leading systems including Notifier, GENT, Advanced
  • Using protocols such as Apollo and Hochiki
  • Installing emergency lighting, disabled refuge and disabled alarm systems
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Testing, fault-finding and troubleshooting
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Identifying opportunities to improve client compliance and system performance
  • Providing end-user training and technical support

You’ll operate as a technical specialist — with real autonomy and responsibility.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in fire system servicing, installation and commissioning
  • Strong knowledge of fire and life safety systems
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and codes of practice
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation
  • Excellent fault-finding and analytical skills
  • Professional communication and organisational ability
  • Security systems knowledge (advantageous)
  • Experience across multiple communication protocols
