The Company
Our client is a well-established Midlands-based Mechanical & Electrical design and build contractor, delivering complex HVAC solutions across a diverse range of commercial and industrial projects. The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical HVAC Building Project Manager to take full ownership of mechanical packages ranging from £50k to £5m+ in value. Reporting directly to the Head of Department / Director, you will manage projects from initial design development through installation, commissioning, and final account.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role requiring strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across live construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of Mechanical HVAC projects from inception to handover
- Develop mechanical system specifications, plant schedules, and construction documentation
- Oversee and review construction drawings (AutoCAD/BIM exposure beneficial)
- Prepare and manage technical submissions and RFI correspondence
- Procure plant, materials, and subcontract packages
- Coordinate and manage site activities, subcontractors, and labour
- Maintain full commercial control, including cost tracking, forecasts, valuations, and final accounts
- Prepare and agree monthly applications for payment
- Manage variations and additional works through to commercial agreement
- Conduct site inspections and attend client and subcontractor meetings
- Resolve technical and delivery issues during construction
- Oversee commissioning, testing, and system start-up
- Produce Operating & Maintenance manuals
- Provide client technical support and end-user training
- Remain current with evolving HVAC technologies and industry best practice
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within Mechanical HVAC design and build environments
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, principles, and site delivery
- Background in managing commercial and industrial mechanical projects
- Comfortable managing subcontractors, suppliers, and client interfaces
- Exposure to AutoCAD and BIM (working knowledge advantageous but not essential)
- Commercially astute with strong cost and contract management capability
- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
- Able to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team environment
Qualifications
- HNC / HND or Degree in Mechanical Building Services / HVAC
- Equivalent industry experience demonstrating the same technical competence
