We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Technician to support installation, assembly and commissioning activities within a high-technology engineering environment. This is a hands-on contract role ideal for a practical Mechanical Technician with strong mechanical skills and a flexible approach to site work.
The Mechanical Technician will assist with mechanical assembly of equipment, on-site installation, and commissioning support, working alongside experienced engineers and technicians. This role suits a Mechanical Technician who enjoys varied work and contributing to engineering projects from build through to completion.
Key Duties
- Mechanical assembly of components and systems
- Installation of mechanical equipment on site
- Assisting with commissioning and functional checks
- Inspection, handling and preparation of mechanical parts
- Working to engineering drawings, procedures and quality standards
- Supporting engineering teams during installation and commissioning phases
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician (apprenticeship or equivalent)
- Strong hands-on mechanical ability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
Desirable
- Experience working in an R&D, laboratory or scientific environment
- Background in high-technology or research-led engineering settings
- Understanding of safe working practices
