A growing engineering and automation business is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Project Engineer to join its specialist engineering team. This is a varied, hands-on role offering involvement across the full lifecycle of bespoke automation and machinery projects, from initial concept through to installation and ongoing support. Working within a collaborative technical environment, you will play a key role in delivering custom-built equipment solutions used across multiple industrial sectors worldwide. The position would suit someone with a strong mix of electrical, mechanical and project engineering experience who enjoys working on complex automation systems.
Key responsibilities
- Managing engineering projects from design through to commissioning and support
- Producing technical proposals, specifications, costings and delivery estimates
- Monitoring project progress, budgets, schedules and technical deliverables
- Coordinating documentation including manuals, certifications, test specifications and technical submissions
- Supporting design development and producing associated engineering documentation
- Creating BOMs, wiring schematics and panel layout designs
- Assisting with electrical hardware and machine automation design
- Mechanical integration of automation equipment including sensors, robotics, feeders and motion systems
- Supporting panel build activities and hard wiring where required
- Carrying out equipment testing and validation activities
- Attending customer sites for installation, commissioning and technical support
- Providing ongoing engineering assistance for deployed equipment internationally
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 3 years' experience within a similar engineering or automation environment
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and components including relays, breakers, switches and power supplies
- Experience using CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
- Ability to produce electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Confident applying practical engineering judgement to solve technical issues
- Good organisational and project coordination skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Project and PowerPoint
- Manufacturing or industrial automation experience would be advantageous
- Professional engineering accreditation would be beneficial but is not essential
