Our client is an established manufacturing business currently going through a period of investment and change. They are looking for an experienced Production Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day production operation and lead a team of around 20 people. You'll manage 2 Team Leaders and around 20 operatives, so this role is very much about getting the best from your team. You'll need to be a confident and approachable manager who can develop people, manage performance and create a positive working environment.

The Role of the Production Manager - You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing and developing the production team and Team Leaders.
  • Planning and managing day-to-day production priorities.
  • Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety.
  • Making sure the team has the equipment, resources and support they need.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements across production.
  • Supporting changes to equipment, processes and the production environment.
  • Working with other departments to keep production running effectively.

What we're looking for in the Production Manager -

  • You'll need previous experience as a Production Manager, Production Leader or similar within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong people management skills are essential. The business is particularly interested in someone who can demonstrate how they've developed their team, supported individuals and dealt with performance issues.
  • A strong attitude towards Health & Safety is also important and will be explored during the interview process.
  • Experience in low-volume, bespoke or configure to order manufacturing would be useful, as would experience of continuous improvement or working through operational change.
  • You don't need to have specific product knowledge, the important thing is that you know how to lead a production team, manage the operation and improve the way things are done.
