Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design of industrial products from concept through to production. This role suits an Electrical Engineer with strong control panel design experience, PLC integration exposure, and a solid understanding of UK/EU compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical design from concept to production.
- Design control panels including layouts, schematics, and cable schedules.
- Specify electrical components with focus on performance, safety, and compliance.
- Integrate PLC-based control systems including I/O definition and functional documentation.
- Apply design for manufacture principles across all electrical designs.
- Produce and maintain electrical documentation, wiring diagrams, calculations, and BOMs.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, CE / UKCA, and UK/EU directives.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Compliance, and Manufacturing teams.
Required Experience:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience as an Electrical Design Engineer or Electrical Engineer.
- Product design or development experience within R&D or NPD environments.
- Strong experience in control panel design for industrial or commercial systems.
- Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems (programming desirable, not essential).
- Experience specifying electrical components and producing technical documentation.
- Competent with CAD and schematic design tools (SolidWorks Electrical or similar).
