About the Role:
- Manage the Transport Operation (Drivers / Mates) daily, ensuring high customer service, H&S standards, and cost efficiency.
- Responsibilities include ensuring timely departures, overseeing deliveries, and managing on-road activities.
- The role involves 50% office-based tasks and 50% on-road delivery work.
- Assist with loading/unloading vehicles according to depot practices.
- Support drivers in delivering orders courteously and efficiently.
- Guide drivers during maneuvering at customer sites.
- Record deliveries, collections, returns, shortages, and empties accurately.
- Help locate customer premises using maps or experience.
- Manage paperwork and cash collection when accompanying agency/temporary drivers.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and legislation.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle cabs and load spaces, ensuring loads are secure.
- Ensure timely departure of crews and vehicles each morning.
- Manage staffing levels, including absence cover and training for agency staff.
- Coordinate vehicle and drop switches while maintaining schedules.
- Oversee daily vehicle and equipment checks, addressing defects promptly.
- Inform Customer Care and Sales of any failed deliveries.
- Act as a communication hub for crews, sales, and customer care, resolving issues.
- Liaise with vehicle maintenance providers for service and repairs.
- Deliver daily drops across various vehicle types, ensuring punctuality and completeness.
About You:
- Class 1 HGV Licence (preferred).
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Lotus).
- JDE knowledge (desirable but not essential).
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good customer and local knowledge.
- Experience managing a team.
- Experience in multi-drop deliveries.
