Position: Roastery Apprentice
Location: Glasgow
Job Type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 39.5 hours per week

Purpose of Role: An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our team, ensuring that all products are produced efficiently and to the highest quality standards. You will work as part of a team responsible for manufacturing products within budgetary guidelines, under the direction of your Department Manager/Supervisor. The successful candidate will be required to work at all times in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, adhering to all company procedures and guidelines, and reporting any hazards to a Supervisor or Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work effectively as part of a team, maintaining punctuality and flexibility to support shift patterns and cover absences
- Follow all company procedures and comply with Health & Safety, food safety (HACCP), quality, legal, and environmental standards
- Produce goods to required quality standards while minimising waste and meeting departmental KPIs
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, and “clean as you go” practices, ensuring the site is audit‑ready
- Carry out cleaning of equipment and work areas to required hygiene standards
- Report hazards, unsafe practices, and all accidents, incidents, or near misses through the correct channels
- Support team members, contribute to training and development (including new starters), and engage in appraisal processes
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, visitors, and contractors
- Accurately complete required documentation and provide relevant information following absence
- Work under pressure with attention to detail, meeting deadlines and adapting to changing business needs
Education / Qualifications / Training:
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Experience (Essential):
- Literacy skills (PC & written)
- Basic numeracy skills
- Operational aptitude
- Hand/eye coordination
Experience (Desirable):
- General understanding of health and safety
- Experience of other food manufacturing machinery & processes
- Knowledge of food safety and H&S standards
- Experience in Lean management operations
- Experience in Working to BRC and M&S COP standards
- Experience of working in a fast‑moving food manufacturing environment
Skills / Knowledge:
- Able to work independently and within a team
- Physical ability to lift and pack products
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to build rapport with colleagues across the organisation
- Computer literate including use of (Word, Excel & D365)
- Excellent planning and organisation skills to manage own workload to expected standards
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver to strict deadlines
