Overview
The Studio is Matrix’s bold new step into building a world‑class internal creative and strategic agency. Our mission is to be the centre of brand and creative excellence — driving breakthrough storytelling and integrated brand execution that fuels growth across all of Matrix Group.
Role
We’re looking for a Creative Director who is the creative heartbeat of the business — a visionary, a provocateur, an inspiration engine. Someone who elevates ideas, stretches thinking, and sets the creative bar sky‑high across every brand and category. You’ll be our north star for creative direction: defining the tone, sharpening the vision and ensuring everything we put into the world feels best‑in‑class, world‑class and unmistakably “us.” You’ll lead and inspire a talented group of designers and creatives, focusing on craft, taste and direction rather than admin. The commercial leadership sits firmly with the Brand teams — your job is to partner with them and bring exceptional creative thinking that amplifies their strategy. Your team will be embedded into the brands, working closely with Brand to shape work that is bold, modern and beautifully executed. Your mission? To make the work better. Braver. More beautiful. More modern. More magnetic. From brand worlds and campaigns to packaging, content and full 360 executions, your creative leadership will raise the standard of everything we put into the world.
Creative Vision & Direction
- Set a bold creative vision for Matrix brands across campaigns, content, packaging and brand worlds.
- Act as the creative north star for Owned Brands (Cowshed, Arkive, Soho Skin and beyond).
- Bring world‑class taste, references and global inspiration to raise the bar.
- Push teams to think bigger and deliver standout work.
- Shape early‑stage ideas into fully formed, brand‑aligned creative concepts.
- Strengthen briefs and unlock stronger creative potential.
- Partner closely with brand leads, strategists, designers, writers and external partners.
- Work with the Head of Brand Strategy to ensure creativity is strategically grounded and emotionally compelling.
Leadership, Culture & Inspiration
- Be the cultural radar for The Studio, bringing inspiration from art, fashion, beauty, design and beyond.
- Run inspiration sessions and workshops to raise creative IQ across the business.
- Mentor and elevate designers through clear direction, high standards and a strong creative environment.
- Lead high‑level creative direction for shoots, campaigns and product storytelling.
- Partner with designers across teams through dotted‑line relationships to refine and elevate output.
- Set and protect the creative bar, championing modern, crafted, on‑brand work across every touchpoint.
- Influence leadership to see creativity as a commercial and cultural advantage.
What You’ll Bring
- 8+ years in brand, design or creative leadership roles within beauty, lifestyle, fashion, agency or consumer brands.
- A stunning portfolio that shows creative vision, craftsmanship and an ability to stretch across categories and formats.
- Proven experience shaping creative direction across multiple brands or verticals.
- Exceptional taste — with a strong point of view on design, brand worlds, storytelling and visual identity.
- Confidence and clarity in giving creative direction without ego or noise.
- Ability to inspire, excite and challenge teams towards braver work.
- High emotional intelligence, impeccable communication and the ability to influence across a matrix environment.
- Energy, curiosity and ambition — someone who lives and breathes creativity and wants to raise the bar everywhere they go.
