Reports to: Directors / Operations Manager
Salary: £15,000 – £18,000 per year (equivalent to £38–45k FTE)

Role Purpose
We are seeking a Resource Manager to take ownership of the planning, allocation, and optimisation of our engineering and technician workforce. The successful candidate will ensure that engineers, technicians, and surveyors are fully and effectively utilised, with resources aligned to project deadlines, priorities, and client requirements.
This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget, by providing visibility of resource availability, identifying pinch points, and proactively reallocating staff as projects evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the master resource schedule for all engineering and technician staff, with Timelines, Gantt charts and Heat Maps.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Directors to forecast upcoming resource needs.
- Reallocate staff quickly and efficiently when project priorities or deadlines change.
- Maintain visibility of leave, training, CPD, and other non-billable commitments.
- Balance workloads to avoid under- or over-utilisation of individuals.
- Use resource management tools (e.g. Zoho Projects) to plan and track allocations.
- Support recruitment and outsourcing decisions by highlighting future resourcing gaps.
- Provide regular reporting on utilisation, capacity, and resource risks.
- Work collaboratively with technical leads to match staff skills to project requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in resource management, project coordination, or operations (ideally within engineering, construction, or consultancy).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing demands.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise between engineers, project managers, and leadership.
- Confident in using project planning/resource allocation software.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and predict future needs.
- Proactive problem-solver who can adapt quickly to change.
- Knowledge of civil and structural engineering workflows (desirable but not essential).
