Location: Wellingborough or Cambridge, with regular time required in both locations along with client visits elsewhere in England.
About Maton Rose Interiors
We take pride in every project, always setting high standards of workmanship.
We do what we say, delivering on time, every time, and we communicate closely with clients to avoid surprises.
And we work closely with customers to find practical, creative solutions.
Since Maton Rose was founded in 2011, we have built longstanding relationships and we are now investing in a phase of expansion to serve a wider client base.
We are looking for a commercially sharp and technically capable individual to own our client relationships.
You will be our clients’ point of contact from site visit through to quote, order, delivery and ongoing account development.
The ideal candidate must show strong furniture industry knowledge, thrive in practical settings, and communicate effectively.
- What you’ll do
- Account management
- Own and develop our existing client base including universities, school operators and care home groups.
- Conduct annual account reviews and develop refurbishment programme proposals that give our clients and us forward visibility.
- Maintain accurate customer records using a CRM.
- Identify and approach new prospects in agreed target segments.
- Lead structured, relationship-led outreach to building owners and managers.
- Represent Maton Rose at trade events and meetings where relevant.
- Conduct independent site visits to survey rooms and spaces, take accurate measurements and interpret architectural drawings.
- Create detailed product specifications both from established product ranges and working with our factory team to design bespoke solutions.
- Produce accurate, professional quotes for projects of all scales, from one-off items to multi-building programmes.
- Act as the link between client and factory, communicating specifications clearly, managing client expectations on lead times and confirming installation schedules with fitting teams.
- Participate in production planning meetings and flag any specification or timeline changes.
- Collaborate with the MD on pricing strategy and prioritisation of the forward order book to ensure sustainable growth of the business.
- Support major installations, working with the fitting team on site, resolving practical queries and communicating with the client throughout.
- Provide hands-on site support including installation and fitting, assembly and snagging tasks where appropriate.
- Complete straightforward remedial or finishing tasks during independent site visits where this avoids unnecessary return visits by the fitting team.
- What we’re looking for
- Demonstrable background in contract interiors, bespoke furniture supply or specialist interior fit-out, ideally for institutional clients such as universities, schools, or healthcare settings.
- Proven ability to conduct independent site surveys: taking measurements, reading architectural drawings and producing accurate specifications without close supervision.
- Experience producing detailed, professional quotes for bespoke or project-based work.
- A relationship-led approach to selling: consultative, patient, and comfortable with long and irregular sales cycles.
- Full UK driving licence - regular travel within England for site visits is a core part of the role.
- Able to spend regular time in both Wellingborough and Cambridge, with occasional wider travel across England.
- Experience supplying to organisations including university colleges, specialist schools, care home operators or other large accommodation owners.
- Experience developing multi-year refurbishment programmes or preferred supplier arrangements with property owners.
- Comfortable and competent taking a practical, hands-on approach on site when needed.
- An existing network within any of our target segments.
We're probably not the right fit if your background is primarily in retail or high-street interiors or if you prefer close daily management - we expect a high degree of autonomy in this role.
- Pay and benefits
- Excellent base salary dependent on your level of experience.
- Commission linked to revenue growth and project size.
- Company pension scheme with employer contributions.
- Vehicle allowance or company vehicle.
- Funded training as required for the role.
