Overview: As the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager across the Ashton and Bolton sites, your role is paramount in providing expert guidance, leadership, and a robust approach to all aspects of HSE. You will ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and company policies, while cultivating a proactive safety culture across the organisation. With one direct HSE Advisor reporting to you, you play a critical role in safeguarding the health and safety of our employees, ensuring the achievement of HSE targets in alignment with both internal and external customer expectations. You will promote a positive health and safety culture within the organisation and provide expert advice and support to employees across both sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Encompass the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive HSE policies and procedures, ensuring they are understood and adhered to.
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Deploy the global HSE strategy, policies, and standards across both sites, coordinating site teams to deliver on our Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment targets and objectives.
  • Drive safety and environmental risk assessments, developing and implementing appropriate controls, and reducing the sites' environmental impact focusing on waste management, CO2 emissions, and optimising water and energy consumption.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and practices to reduce the environmental impact.
  • Own the internal group reporting procedures, updating, and liaising with the site leads and other HSE Partners within the group.
  • As an active member of the site leadership team, report to the site lead and influence all employees by driving safety and environmental leadership.
  • Lead internal and external quality audits, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Skills:

  • 10+ proven experience in a senior HSE role, preferably within a multi-site operation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and incident investigation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Ability to develop and implement HSE strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Membership of a recognized professional body (e.g., IOSH, IEMA).
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HSE policies and procedures.
