Overview: The Maintenance Leader will report to the Operations Leader and will have 3 direct reports (Shift Engineers). The Maintenance Leader is responsible for ensuring that Safety, Quality, Environment, Cost, Delivery, and People expectations are met whilst continually striving for Operational Excellence in a manufacturing environment which consists of mixing, coating, embossing, logging, slitting, and packaging. You will collaborate with other functions such as EHS, Quality, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, and HR.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment and culture for Mativ employees, visitors, and contractors whilst enforcing policies and procedures.
- Ensure that processes and equipment comply with legal standards.
- Support Internal and External Audit requirements, fulfilling all obligations under current operating systems and accreditation criteria.
- Set, deliver, and improve financial and non-financial budget & forecasts for the department.
- Provide the necessary leadership and resources to ensure that all products and services supplied by the site are at the highest possible levels, consistent with company targets, and meeting customer specifications on time in full achieving site service requirements (OTIF).
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and improve department performance.
- Lead root cause analysis and deliver permanent fixes.
- Identify opportunities for optimisation, automation, and efficiency improvements.
- Support engineering upgrades and small-to-mid scale site projects.
- Lead, coach, and develop your team to ensure effective delivery of metrics.
- Champion a culture of Continuous Improvement.
- Drive cultural transformation ensuring that your team understands Mativ Values and they are effectively applied to achieve results.
- Work closely with Maintenance Leaders at other Mativ sites.
- Work closely with Human Resources to support training, career development, succession planning, and employee relations.
- Deputise for Operations Leader.
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance.
- Demonstrated manufacturing and leadership experience.
- Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Time-served engineer with a strong electrical or mechanical bias.
- Minimum HNC in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in using manufacturing software, ERP/MRP systems (SAP), and data analysis tools.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team whilst working in a hands-on environment.
- Presentable and able to represent the company in a professional manner with suppliers and customers.
