Matic Building Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Operations Manager (Mechanical) to oversee the day-to-day operational management of developments across multiple sites. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will take full responsibility for health & safety compliance, programme delivery, quality control, cost management, and the leadership of Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers, and wider site teams. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to driving performance, compliance, and presentation standards on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers, and directly employed site staff
- Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Company Policies
- Oversee site presentation, security, stock control, and quality standards
- Manage build programmes, monitor progress, and maintain accurate reporting
- Chair regular operational meetings and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure subcontractor compliance, documentation approval, RAMS, permits, and inspections
- Maintain full compliance with building regulations and warranty providers (NHBC, LABC, NICEIC)
- Monitor costs in line with development budgets and contractual requirements
- Liaise closely with clients, project managers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
- Oversee production of test, inspection, and O&M documentation
- Ensure all statutory, SHEQ, and contractual obligations are met
Essential Requirements:
- CSCS Card (Site Manager level)
- Valid SMSTS qualification
- City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing multiple site teams across mechanical projects
- Strong knowledge of building regulations and health & safety legislation
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- IOSH Managing Safety
- LOLER certification
- CIOB membership (appropriate grade)
Experience Required:
- Managing multiple Site Managers, Supervisors, and Project Managers
- Delivery of large-scale construction projects
- Strong coordination with design and preconstruction teams
- Live Mechanical & Electrical safe systems of work
