Matic Building Services is a growing mechanical and electrical contractor within The Domis Group, delivering high quality building services across major residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. We are now seeking an experienced Fire & Security Service Engineer to join the Matic Life Safety Systems team. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the delivery of planned preventative maintenance, reactive call-outs, fault finding, small works installations, servicing, maintenance and commissioning across life safety systems. You will work across a wide range of environments, from live sites and occupied buildings to busy construction projects, helping to ensure fire and security systems are installed, maintained and delivered to the highest standards. No two days are the same, making this a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, problem solving and working across projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine servicing, testing, inspection, repairs and installation of fire and security systems
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance, reactive call-outs, fault finding and first-time fixes where possible
- Complete ongoing small works installations for Matic Life Safety Systems
- Support commissioning and installation teams across busy construction sites
- Carry out site service visits, engineering audits and system inspections
- Work across life safety systems, CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and associated equipment
- Ensure all works are completed in line with relevant legal, regulatory, legislative and industry standards
- Produce accurate job reports, audit paperwork, job sheets and technical documentation
- Assist with aftercare and technical support across fire and security disciplines
- Ensure customer, contractor and project team queries are dealt with in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, project management teams and department leads
- Work collaboratively within a team covering a defined geographical area
- Support and lead subcontractors, installation engineers and trainee engineers where required
- Assist other teams during periods of absence, sickness, leave or high workload
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, customer service and team working practices
- Attend and participate in company training to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge
- Comply with all company policies, including HR, health and safety and information security procedures
- Protect sensitive customer information and company assets at all times
- Report security risks, incidents or potential incidents in line with company procedures
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management
Requirements:
- Experience across multiple disciplines including life safety systems, fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms and access control
- Previous experience carrying out PPM, reactive calls and small works within the fire and security systems industry
- Strong fault-finding skills with a focus on first-time fix resolution
- Service, test and inspection experience to relevant standards and codes
- Experience writing clear and accurate technical reports, job sheets and audit paperwork
- Ability to work to high health and safety standards
- Basic Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge
- Experience using job management systems is advantageous
- Network and IP based product experience is advantageous
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer focused with an excellent telephone manner
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and work with limited supervision
- Collaborative team player with the ability to support colleagues and share technical knowledge
- Good judgement and the ability to make decisions under pressure
- Reliable, organised and proactive with a strong work ethic
- Valid, clean UK driving licence
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues and contractors
- Experience working with systems such as Advanced, Hochiki, Comelit, Paxton, Texecom, Hikvision and GENT is advantageous
