Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Staff Accountant supports the Accounting Department by performing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy of financial records, and assisting with monthly closes and reconciliations.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and reclassifications in accordance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Perform account reconciliations including bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Support inventory valuations and reconciliations.
- Track and record capital project costs, acquisition and sale of fixed assets, and related depreciation.
- Assist in preparing internal financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
- Issue and track credit/debit cards.
- Vehicle/truck registrations.
- Sales tax filings.
- Other ad hoc duties as needed.

Skills/Experience/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing accounting, including inventory and standard costing beneficial.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors etc. Regular use of computer screen, mouse and keyboard. Extended durations of sitting. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Some travel may be required.
