Job Summary:

Repairs, services, and maintains engine-driven generators and electric welding machines, ensuring a safe working environment. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Replaces defective parts and completes preventative maintenance.
  2. Orders parts as required for repairs.
  3. Inspects returned equipment for proper operation and damage.
  4. Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  5. Prepares and completes paperwork for machine repairs.
  6. Occasionally services equipment and customers off-site.
  7. Maintains communication with branch personnel.
  8. Advises customers on suitable equipment for their projects.
  9. Performs troubleshooting, calibrations on-site and off-site.
  10. Possesses knowledge of computers, welding processes, equipment setup, gases, and wires.
  11. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

Characteristics include exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, electrical shock risks, high places, chemicals, weather conditions, and variable noise levels. Reasonable accommodations are available.

Required Skills:

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak effectively with various audiences.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Post-secondary education equivalent to one year of technical college is an asset.
  • At least three years of related technical experience.
  • Knowledge of positioning equipment and welding applications is an asset.
  • Ability to make critical decisions and build relationships.
  • Adaptability and effective communication skills are required.
