Mather Jamie Chartered Surveyors are an East Midlands based independent mixed commercial, development and agricultural practice. The Company was established in 1991 and is a director led professional service that has developed an unrivalled reputation for delivering good, competent and reliable advice and expertise to their loyal client base for over 33 years.

We seek an efficient, articulate, pro-active and highly organised individual to join our Rural Team to assist and lead on a variety of agribusiness and rural land and property matters. The individual will also be involved in some Estate management work on behalf of rural clients. The position will provide an interesting and varied workload, which will be carried out under the direction of our Rural Management Director. The work will cover a wide variety of property sectors with the key focus being on agricultural land and property.

As the role is varied and at times demanding, the successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative and possess a calm demeanour with a common-sense approach, as well as being able to work as part of a team. Ideally you should be RICS qualified with at least 1 year post qualification experience in the rural property sector as well as excellent people skills and a desire to become part of a highly dedicated and motivated team. You will be energetic, confidential and capable of getting on well with the colleagues, tenants, clients and other stakeholders and have excellent IT skills, good attention to detail and be able to deal with a wide variety of tasks in a timely manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Estate management of agricultural, commercial and residential properties
  • Establishing and managing Farm Business Tenancies and Grazing Licences
  • Advising on Sustainable Farming Incentive and Countryside Stewardship Schemes
  • Contract Farming Agreement and Share Farming administration including budgets and cashflows
  • Presenting recommendations to clients on approaches to farming and land management
  • Exploring and advising on future opportunities and diversification of land & property
  • Compensation claims against utility companies and other statutory bodies
  • Sales and Lettings of Farms and Agricultural Land
  • Valuation of Rural and Residential Property
  • General Professional Advice for Rural Clients

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience (1+ years) in rural property / surveying
  • Rural property management experience beneficial
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of property laws and regulations
  • Excellent organisation, communication and presentation abilities
  • RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) qualification or equivalent is desirable
  • Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

  • The ability to learn new skills and working methods and be adaptable to change
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate positively and effectively, both orally and in writing to clients, tenants, colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint are considered essential plus the ability to demonstrate an adaptability or willingness to learn the use of property-specific software packages and online resources
  • The ability to work in an organised and methodical fashion, with high levels of attention to detail
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure and to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • A pro-active approach to work and a willingness to get involved and put forward ideas
  • A positive attitude, lots of personality and acute attention to detail
  • A full clean driving licence is considered essential

HOURS & SALARY

  • Full time, permanent position. Office hours are 8:30am – 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am – 5pm on Fridays
  • Consideration will be given to flexible working for the right candidate
  • Salary dependent on experience plus car allowance
  • The firm operates a discretionary bonus scheme
