Manufacturer of metal matrix composite materials using powder metallurgy processes for use in high performance applications such as motorsport, space, aerospace and commercial markets.
Working in a manufacturing environment covering all general production and maintenance activities as and when required.
Areas of responsibility:
- General production operations such as drying, blending, batching, MA (operating process equipment), particle size checking, sieving & magnetic separation.
- Complete operations as specified by the Operations manager or Supervisor within the time frame given.
- Review and implement job instruction.
- Check product specification and route cards.
- Assist the Supervisor with monthly and yearly stock check.
- Monitor production processes and equipment.
- Monitor stock levels from raw material to MA powders.
- Inform production supervisor of the need for production consumables or supplies.
- Maintain housekeeping at a high level within the production area.
- Provide additional resource to other production processes or other departments, where necessary, provided this does not affect other production activities.
- Quality control of material and processes as required in QOPs or as detailed.
- Follow H&S guidelines and procedures.
- Production equipment maintenance and assembly.
- Use of forklift truck for moving equipment and materials.
Quality:
- Check incoming raw materials are within specification and ok for use.
- Monitor and use of data-log systems relating to Mechanical Alloying.
- Ensure quality records are completed, maintained, and uploaded to the database in a timely manner.
Person Specification:
- Manual Handling training – preferred but not essential.
- Manufacturing or maintenance experience would be preferable.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate with other employees (both written and oral).
- Reliable, good timekeeper.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn.
- Must be health & safety aware.
- Manual handling training will be provided.
Hours of work: 39 hours per week. Shift work required – predominately evenings and nights.
