Materials Market is a managed marketplace for bulky construction materials. We’re fixing a fragmented, opaque market where pricing is political and access is unequal — building a fair, transparent system where customers and suppliers trade on equal terms. We turn a fragmented network of merchants and distributors into one simple way to buy heavy, first‑fix materials. Customers — from DIYers to tradespeople — get competitive, market‑informed prices and reliable delivery through a single platform. Suppliers keep control, choosing the orders that suit their branches, fleets and margins.
We’ve proven the core marketplace engine. Now we’re at an inflection point - and need to build the growth function that defines the next stage.
The Role
As Chief Growth Officer, you will define and own the entire growth engine at Materials Market. This is a true executive leadership role, reporting to the CEO and shaping company strategy. You will be accountable for sustainable revenue growth - overseeing acquisition, activation and retention - and ensuring we balance short‑term revenue performance with long‑term brand equity and customer lifetime value. You will sit on the senior leadership team, working directly with the founders and board, and will play a central role in defining how Materials Market wins its category.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve Materials Market’s brand positioning across all customer touchpoints
- Move beyond pure performance marketing into brand, content, PR and creative campaigns
- Own lifecycle marketing, CRM and retention systems
- Design and optimise end‑to‑end customer journeys
- Set the creative bar across campaigns, web, ads and email
- Lead go‑to‑market strategy for new products and growth initiatives
- Work cross‑functionally with Product, Operations and Analytics
- Build and develop the growth team over time
This is a hands‑on leadership role. In the early stages, you will be shaping campaigns, writing copy and setting direction yourself.
Requirements
- Proven experience across brand, performance, CRM and lifecycle marketing
- Track record of building brands alongside revenue growth
- Strong creative judgement and messaging skills
- Systems thinker - comfortable designing customer journeys and retention loops
- Experience leading and developing marketing teams
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, resource‑constrained environment
- Experience in marketplace, platform or two‑sided business models
- Experience scaling growth in a Series A/B business
Not For
- Corporate brand leaders used to large teams and long timelines
- Leaders who prefer strategy without execution
What We Offer
- A defining leadership role at an inflection point
- Direct impact on company trajectory
- Meaningful equity
- A seat at the executive table
- Backing from experienced investors and board members
