The Production Manager is responsible for leading and optimising all assembly and manufacturing operations for capital equipment/products at the Evesham site. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality and safety standards, while driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Delivery
    • Lead the execution of production plans to meet customer delivery schedules and project milestones.
    • Coordinate build schedules for complex, engineered-to-order (ETO) or configure-to-order (CTO) products.
    • Manage capacity planning, labour allocation, and workflow to optimise throughput.
    • Monitor progress against plan and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
  • Assembly Operations Management
    • Oversee assembly of capital equipment, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications.
    • Ensure all builds meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain effective shop floor organisation (6S, layout optimisation).
    • Coordinate cross-functional dependencies (Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Projects).
    • Introduce flexible manufacturing with new and existing products and brands.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and external standards.
    • Work closely with Quality teams to reduce defects, rework, and warranty issues.
    • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for production issues.
    • Support audits and regulatory compliance activities.
    • Own business continuity with the production operations function.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
    • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all production activities with zero harm initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
    • Drive continuous improvement in workplace safety.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
    • Drive improvements in productivity, cost efficiency, and lead time reduction.
    • Identify and eliminate waste across production processes.
    • Lead improvement projects (e.g., layout redesign, process optimisation, digital tools).
  • Stakeholder & Project Collaboration
    • Work closely with Engineering to ensure manufacturability and smooth product introduction.
    • Partner with Supply Chain to ensure materials availability and inventory control.
    • Support Project Managers in delivering complex capital equipment projects.
    • Provide regular performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Budget & Cost Control
    • Manage production budgets, labour costs, and operational expenses.
    • Track KPIs such as labour efficiency, OEE, and cost of poor quality.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining quality standards.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    • On-time delivery (OTD).
    • Production schedule adherence.
    • Labour productivity and efficiency.
    • Quality metrics: defects, rework, warranty claims.
    • Health & Safety performance: incident rates.
    • Lead time reduction.
    • Cost performance vs budget.
  • People Management
    • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, team leaders, and assembly technicians.
    • Drive a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
    • Manage performance reviews, 121s, training, and succession planning.
    • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, skills and competency development.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience in a Production/Manufacturing Manager role within capital equipment, heavy engineering, or complex assembly environments.
  • Experience with engineered-to-order or project-based production.
  • Strong leadership and team management capability.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge and application of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • H&S - NEBOSH National General Certificate desirable.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards relevant to industrial equipment.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt / Black Belt) certification.
  • Experience with ERP systems, JDE desirable.

Training

  • JDE, Inforouter & Workday training will be given.

Location and travel requirements

  • 5 days per week at the Evesham site.
  • Factory / assembly shop floor environment with regular office-based responsibilities.
  • May require occasional travel to supplier sites or customer locations.
