Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer

Our client, a renowned entity in the Energy sector, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer on a contract basis. This role demands expertise in electrical engineering to support various critical projects and proposals within the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical input for electrical discipline on projects and proposals
2. Prepare, check, and approve engineering documentation
3. Ensure compliance with national and international codes of practice, legislation, and company/client standards
4. Prepare equipment and materials requisitions for HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, power factor correction, trace-heating, lighting, and other electrical equipment
5. Prepare installation scopes of work
6. Review suppliers’ quotations and prepare technical bid assessments

More Specific Tasks:

1. Cable, lighting, and lightning calculations
2. Electrical equipment ageing and obsolescence management
3. Supporting site teams with operational issues

Job Requirements:

1. Substantial experience in electrical engineering within the Energy sector
2. In-depth knowledge of HV and LV systems, UPS, and other electrical equipment
3. Strong understanding of relevant codes of practice, standards, and legislation
4. Excellent technical documentation preparation and review skills
5. Proficiency in technical bid assessments and supplier quotation reviews
6. Ability to prepare comprehensive installation scopes of work
7. Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail
8. Strong communication and team collaboration abilities

The principal level position is more of an Owners Engineering role acting as the client on their behalf.
