Over the past three years, our client has successfully transitioned to a new business intelligence and data architecture, centered on SQL Server, SSIS, and Power BI. Their in-house Data Warehouse now serves as the core of our OLAP database, managing ETL processes and delivering high-quality data insights to our internal teams.
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to focus primarily on their Financial and Sales data. This role will be instrumental in maintaining existing data pipelines and developing new ETL procedures, ensuring the business teams have access to accurate, insightful data for decision-making. The ideal candidate will become an expert in Finance, Sales, and Working Capital data, guiding analytics requirements and conducting in-depth investigative analysis on key business challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Data Systems Director to implement Business Intelligence Strategy.
- Maintain and manage existing data pipelines within the Finance, Sales, and Working Capital domains.
- Develop new data pipelines to provide Power BI report writers with accurate, structured data for reporting and visualization.
- Conduct investigative data analysis projects to drive efficiencies in departmental workflows.
- Propose and implement data quality improvement initiatives at the source.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements for new dataset transformations.
- Apply analytical techniques to clean, transform, analyze, and interpret data.
- Partner with Business Analysts and Power BI designers to ensure solutions align with business requirements and are delivered efficiently.
- Ensure all database architecture and data pipeline developments are documented per company policies.
- Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing theories and methodologies.
- Expert proficiency in SQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- Experience with Power BI (or similar BI tools) and data modeling for reporting.
- Extensive experience in reporting on data from ERP & Manufacturing/Operations Systems.
- Deep understanding of Sales and Finance data management.
- Familiarity with transactional database systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to self-manage and work independently.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment but can also plan and consider multiple options before execution.
