Purpose of the Role (Overview): This role will contribute to the full development lifecycle - from requirements capture through to design, simulation, prototyping, and final verification. The position also includes line management responsibilities for a small team of Antenna Engineers working within a broader product development function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support bids, concept development, and proposal generation
- Design, simulate, and test antenna and RF solutions for complex systems
- Perform electromagnetic simulations to enhance antenna performance
- Monitor and integrate emerging technologies into new product development
- Analyse and derive technical requirements
- Produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation
- Conduct verification and qualification testing, including formal analysis
- Contribute to the design of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and associated software
- Line management and mentorship of antenna engineering staff
Competencies:
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently
- Capable of setting priorities and coordinating team efforts
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Degree qualified in Electronics, RF Engineering, or a related discipline
- Solid foundation in RF theory, antenna principles, and transmission line theory
- Experience with one or more EM simulation tools (e.g. CST, HFSS, FEKO)
- Skilled in the use of RF test equipment (VNAs, Spectrum Analysers, etc.)
- Desirable experience in both active/passive RF and antenna design
- Familiarity with anechoic chamber testing and antenna range measurements
- Understanding of design for manufacture and assembly
- Proficient in MS Office and general PC-based tools
