We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planning Consultant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide essential planning advice to developers, ensuring consistency with land use and transport policies, while minimizing adverse impacts on the environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the county while shaping its future planning landscape. Key Responsibilities: Advise developers to influence development proposals, ensuring alignment with land use and transport policies. Analyse and assess planning applications related to County Council, minerals, and waste developments. Prepare reports for Regulatory Committees and Delegated decisions, and handle appeals where appropriate. Negotiate Section 106 agreements and site-specific requirements for County Council and County Matter applications. Monitor ongoing developments to ensure compliance with planning permissions. Assist in enforcing planning control and managing related enforcement matters. Negotiate and communicate with applicants and the public on a range of planning-related issues. Represent the County Council in negotiations for Section 106 agreements and secure appropriate planning gain from developments. Attend meetings, including those outside normal office hours, and undertake presentations as required. Present planning applications and matters to the County Council’s Regulatory Committee. Contribute to the preparation of the County’s Mineral and Waste Local Plans and provide planning input to the broader work of the County Council. Undertake planning consultancy work on behalf of the County Council. Ideal Candidate: Regulation 3 experience Proven experience in a planning or consultancy role, particularly within County Council, minerals, or waste developments. Strong understanding of planning policy, regulations, and procedures. Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to attend meetings outside of normal office hours when necessary.
