Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking an Acousto Mechanical Modelling Engineer for a contract position. This role involves working on cutting-edge technology to enhance acoustic communication systems, utilising your expertise in mechanical engineering and modelling and simulation. Key Responsibilities: Survey and identification of available COTS hardware for acoustic piezoelectric transducers and ICP/IEPE and/or MEMS accelerometers appropriate for given system requirements and constraints. Design of novel transducer and sensor mounting methods in CAD or similar for porting into numerical solver software. Modelling piezoelectric transducers, propagation of structural vibrations, and ICP/IEPE and/or MEMS accelerometers using numerical solver software such as COMSOL, Ansys Mechanical, Simulia etc. Validating models against real-world data, identifying shortcomings, and implementing improvements. Contributing to measurement campaigns and participating in field trials where necessary. Job Requirements: Background in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related STEM field. Highly experienced in Finite Element Analysis and other numerical solvers. Proficiency in mechanical solver software such as COMSOL, Ansys Mechanical, Simulia etc. Knowledge of piezoelectric transducers and ICP/IEPE and MEMS accelerometers. Appreciation of communication systems is beneficial. Experience in designing and/or modelling acoustic transducers and sensors using mechanical simulation software. Ability to validate models against real-world measured data and make necessary adjustments.
