We are hiring a Senior Maintenance Engineering Manager to lead and develop the engineering function at our flagship 30,000 sqm industrial kitchen site in Heathrow. This high-throughput operation supports daily production for thousands of meals—from chilled sandwiches to complex plated dishes—serving a workforce of around 2,700 on-site staff.
This is a hands-on leadership role. We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge and a proactive approach to driving reliability, compliance, and performance across the plant. You will lead an in-house engineering team and oversee a large group of external contractors to ensure the site runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and improve critical systems: steam boilers, refrigeration, AHUs, DAF plant, MEIKO dishwashers, and electrical infrastructure (including substations)
- Ensure full compliance with maintenance legislation and internal standards (PPMs, electrical checks, documentation)
- Identify training needs and improve engineering team capability
- Be available for urgent issues—while not on-call formally, the role requires emergency availability due to operational criticality
- Manage and develop a core team of 8 engineers (expanding to 11-15)
- Oversee 50-60 contractors across gas, electrical, waste, and other technical areas
- Experience you have with boilers, refrigeration, air handling units and waste units
- Experience with legal compliance (electrical, maintenance, safety)
- Experience managing internal and external stakeholders
- Able to interpret data to make decisions
