Our client is a leading UK emergency response and lifesaving organisation, operating a large and complex fleet of specialist rescue vessels and equipment. Their mission is simple: to save lives. Their teams stand ready 24/7, delivering critical operations and responding at a moment's notice. We are supporting them in the recruitment of a Project Engineer to join their Engineering Transformation function - a key role driving innovative engineering projects that keep their lifesaving assets safe, reliable, and operational.
It's an exciting period of change, with several major programmes underway, including the development of a new class of rescue craft, enhancements to their fast-response fleet, and the rollout of a next-generation operational information system.
Your role as a Project Engineer will involve the successful engineering delivery of a broad range of technical projects - supporting the full asset lifecycle from concept through to disposal. You will lead technical input, manage engineering outputs, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the end-to-end engineering delivery of minor projects, including design, integration, modification, and support
- Acting as the central technical contact, resolving engineering challenges while aligning work with operational priorities
- Collaborating with teams across Project Management, In-Service Support, Procurement, Estates, and Construction/Refit to ensure smooth project execution
- Supporting planning and risk management across engineering workstreams, ensuring timely delivery of documentation and milestones
- Monitoring budgets, schedules, and compliance with SHE (Safety, Health, Environment), engineering governance, and quality standards
- Driving continuous improvement through lessons learned, stakeholder feedback, and refined tools and processes
- Maintaining up-to-date engineering knowledge and actively supporting your own professional development
About you:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Engineer who thrives in a complex and fast-paced environment. You will have proven experience managing engineering delivery across projects and multidisciplinary teams - ensuring quality, efficiency, and technical excellence throughout.
Essential requirements:
- Degree-level education (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience leading technical delivery within multidisciplinary or integrated teams
- Background in project engineering and lifecycle management
- Strong ability to assure quality and compliance against policies, standards, and processes
- Confident communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and balance technical, operational, and commercial needs
- A pragmatic, calm, and collaborative approach to problem-solving and workload management
