The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead and develop the mechanical team across workshop, site, and project activities, ensuring delivery is safe, efficient, on time, and to the highest quality standards. You will also play a key role in:
- Estimating and quotation preparation
- Operational planning and labour allocation
- Project coordination and delivery
- Client and subcontractor management
- Team leadership and development
- Health, safety, and quality compliance
- Supporting business growth and identifying new opportunities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical operations across multiple projects
- Prepare accurate estimates, quotations, and costings
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and delivery
- Coordinate labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor and develop team members and supervisors
- Ensure full compliance with HSE, quality, and company standards
About You
- Minimum 5 years' experience in marine, mechanical engineering, ship repair, civil engineering, or maintenance
- Proven supervisory or management experience
- Strong commercial awareness and estimating capability
- Mechanical qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Marine or dockside mechanical systems experience
- Experience in permit-controlled environments (confined spaces, hot works, etc.)
- Client facing project delivery experience
