We are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering organisation in the Glasgow area for a Hydraulic Engineer / Mechanical Fitter. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy engineering team working across a diverse range of marine and industrial projects. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical fitting background, experience working with hydraulic systems, and be comfortable supporting projects across multiple sites. This role offers varied work, excellent overtime opportunities and long-term career development within a growing engineering business. Due to the nature of some projects, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair hydraulic systems and components in line with industry standards.
  • Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, root cause analysis and repairs on hydraulic equipment.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Assist with the testing, commissioning and validation of hydraulic systems.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintenance documentation as required.
  • Work closely with engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Support marine and industrial maintenance, installation and repair activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company quality standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within hydraulic engineering, mechanical fitting or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on fitting experience.
  • Experience working with hydraulic systems, including installation, maintenance and fault finding.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and projects when required.

Desirable

  • Marine engineering experience.
  • Industrial, manufacturing or heavy engineering background.
  • Previous experience commissioning hydraulic systems.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
Friday: 08:00 - 13:30

Overtime

Monday to Saturday: Time and a Half (1.5x)
Sunday: Double Time (2x)
Overtime paid after completion of the standard working week.

Package

Salary circa £40,000, dependent on experience. Excellent overtime earning potential. Opportunity to work on a variety of marine and industrial engineering projects. Ongoing training and career development opportunities.
