An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator to join a busy and growing machine shop in Poole. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a precision engineering environment and takes pride in producing high-quality components to tight tolerances. You will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC lathes, ensuring components are manufactured efficiently, accurately and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
- Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes.
- Producing precision-engineered components from technical drawings and specifications.
- Optimising programs to improve efficiency and cycle times.
- Selecting and setting tooling and work-holding equipment.
- Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments where required.
- Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections using measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
- Ensuring all components meet quality standards and specified tolerances.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Following all company health and safety procedures.
About You
- Previous experience as a CNC Programmer, Setter and Operator.
- Strong CNC turning experience.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience working to close tolerances and quality standards.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Sliding Head CNC machines (Citizen, Tornos or similar) would be highly advantageous, although candidates with strong CNC turning backgrounds will also be considered.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday 07:00 - 16:00 (30-minute unpaid lunch break, two paid 10-minute tea breaks)
- Friday 07:00 - 12:00 (one paid tea break)
- Total paid hours: 39 hours per week
Salary & Benefits
- £18.00 - £21.00 per hour, depending on experience and skillset.
- Approximate annual earnings: £36,504 per annum based on £18.00 per hour; £42,588 per annum based on £21.00 per hour.
- Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate when available (not guaranteed).
- Full-time permanent position.
