This permanent role is crucial for supporting the Fabrication Manager in overseeing marine and general fabrication operations across both commercial and cruise sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor the work of employees and subcontractors, ensuring all tasks meet required quality and safety standards.
- Assist in planning, quoting, and delivering fabrication and marine engineering projects-managing time, cost, materials, and labour efficiently.
- Oversee and enforce the use of PPE and safe systems of work, including RAMS, Take 5 documentation, and permit-to-work processes.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in workshops, stores, vehicles, and on-site locations.
- Support management with performance monitoring, training, employee development, and addressing conduct or grievance matters.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained as per manufacturer guidelines, reporting faults or losses.
- Manage the issue and accountability of tools and equipment to minimise company losses.
- Coordinate procurement of materials as required.
- Respond to urgent work as needed, including on-call and emergency response duties.
- Complete written reports and update management on job progress and workforce concerns.
- Promote a positive workplace culture by addressing issues early and supporting staff morale.
- Adhere to and promote compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in the marine industry, ideally previous cruise experience
- Prepared to travel as required for the overall gain of the business.
- Full UK Driving License.
- Supervisory/management experience within a Welding & Fabrication environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and diagrams and associated technical data.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work and manage a team, motivating staff effectively.
- Strong health and safety knowledge to ensure all employees under your control comply with all current and relevant safety and environmental legislation.
